Karate students, who train at Farringdon Academy Inspires Primary School, named Jorja Spoors and Amelia Wilson Laing, as students of the year. The club, which is going from strength to strength, meets on Fridays at the school from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. Contact Paula Summer on 07906441778 for further information.

Ellie Hall and Jack Lord were named students of the year at their karate club, which meets in Holy Rosary Church hall, Arbroath Road. Sessions are held on Mondays from 5pm to 6pm. For more information contact Paula on 07906441778 or pop in.

Paula also runs karate sessions at Thorney Close Enterprise Centre on Fridays from 5pm to 6pm.

After the Christmas and New Year festivities at Middle Herrington Methodist Church in Crow Lane, which included the visit of 60 children from local primary schools for a christingle service, normal activities have resumed. The church will be holding its usual monthly coffee morning tomorrow at 10am in aid of church funds. All are welcome to come along for a friendly chat and a cuppa with scones and cake.

The Jubilee Centre in Allendale Road, Farringdon, runs a job club for people who need help with CV writing and access to a computer. For further information pop in and talk to someone or ring 0191 5228447. One to one appointments are available.
