The next meeting of Sunderland Embroiderers' Guild will be held at St Aiden's Parish Centre, New Herrington, on Saturday at 2pm. Joan Wilkinson will give a talk entitled Whitework around the World. The hall will be open from 12.30pm for any who wish to chat and stitch. Admission is free to branch members, £2 to embroiderers' guild members and those under 25 and £4 for all other visitors. Tea and coffee is 50p.

Mr and Mrs Hunter celebrate their golden wedding and were presented with a gift and flowers by Lakeside Residents’ Association chairman at the associations Easter tea. Eric and Una are both very popular members of Altringham Friendly Club and Eric is a Lakeside Association committee member.

The 2nd Herrington Scout Group is holding its next jumble sale on Friday, April 22, at 7pm and is appealing for any unwanted, saleable items. The group can sell almost anything including small items of furniture, DVDs, bric-a-bac, tools, clean clothing,undamaged footware, books and bags, toys andgames. Items can be taken along to its HQ in Crow Lane, which is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 7pm-8pm or call 4162036 for pick up in the Herringtons area.

Residents at Oakfield Court have been very busy over the Easter break. They have taken part in a number of activities including an Easter bonnet competition. They also celebrated the opening of their new lift with an official ribbon cutting ceremony. Oakfield Court holds many activities throughout the week. For more information, contact the court.

Ladies are wanted to attend a new adult colouring class to take place in Middle Herrington Methodist Church either Monday from 1pm-3pm or Friday from 1pm-3pm. Adult colouring is a proven therapy which soothes the mind, helps with mental health issues, confidence and improving social skills. Sessions will cost £2.50 to cover costs of the church hall and refreshments. About 12 ladies are needed for the class to cover costs. A craft class, including card making, meets in Middle Herrington Methodist Church in Crow Lane on Thursdays from 10am to noon. Beginners are welcome. On Wednesdays a knit and natter and patchwork group meets from 10am to noon. For more information, ring Mary on 520 0835.

A sugarcraft and cake decorating class takes place in Middle Herrington Methodist Church, Crow Lane, every Tuesday from noon-2pm. Beginners are welcome to this very friendly session. Ring Carolyn on 536 8353.
