Herringtons, Farringdon and Lakeside - Down Your Way

Herrington Scouts would like to thank all the people who supported its jumble sale on Friday, October 14, and, of course, to the people of Herrington who supported by donating items to sell.The event proved very successful, raising an impressive £805.

Lakeside Residents’ Association will be selling poppies and crosses and at 11am on Armistice Day members will be holding a short service around Lakeside’s newly erected cross and remembrance garden. Free refreshments will be available to all those attending. On behalf of Lakeside Residents and Sunderland Residents’ Association two committee members will be taking part in Sunderland’s Remembrance Day Service placing wreaths on the cenotaph. Thanks go to all those who have supported the association in providing the cross and garden.

Councillors Stuart Porthouse and Gillian Galbraith are holding their first ward surgery tomorrow between 4pm to 5pm in the Community Meeting Room, Farringdon Primary Academy, Archer Road, Farringdon and afterwards Councillor Darryl Dixon will be joining them from 5pm to 6pm in the Methodist Chapel, Crow Lane, Middle Herrington. Everyone is welcome and no appointment necessary.

Herrington Flower Club will be holding its annual Christmas market on Tuesday, November 1, from 6pm to 9pm at the Health and Racquet Club, Doxford Park. There will be more than 25 stalls offering inspirational ideas for Christmas. Entrance is free.

Thorney Close Karate Club meets in Thorney Close Enterprise Centre, every Friday from 5pm to 6pm. Holy Rosary Karate Club meets in Holy Rosary Church,Farringdon, every Monday from 5pmto 6pm. Farringdon Karate Club meets in Farringdon Academy Inspires Primary School every Friday from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. All ages and abilities are welcome, pop along or ring 07948374298.

Herrington Flower Club meeting will take place on Monday, November 14, at 7.30pm in St Chad’s Church hall. National demonstrator Lucy Smith will give a demonstration entitled the Art of Christmas Present. Tickets are £5, which will include wine and nibbles.
