Herringtons, Farringdon and Lakeside - Down Your Way

Today Middle Herrington Methodist Church in Crow Lane, will be holding its usual monthly coffee morning from 10am to 11.30am. It will be in aid of The Oasis Trust, an organisation which helps to resettle refugees which has been asked by the Home Office to open a safe house for twenty-one 16 to 18-year-olds to deliver the practical care and emotional healing they need. Everyone is welcome for a friendly chat and a cuppa with scones and cake.

This Sunday’s morning service at 10.30am at Middle Herrington Methodist Church, Crow Lane premises, will mark 180 years of Methodist witness in the village. The preacher will be the church’s minister, the Rev Steven Hill. Refreshments, including cake made by congregation members, will be served in the school room afterwards. All are welcome.

Sunderland Branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild meets in St Aidan’s Parish Centre in New Herrington on the third Saturday of the month. There is a Stitch -In from 12.30pm with the meeting starting at 2pm. The next meeting will be on Saturday and the speaker will be Carol Jarvis on From Factory Robot to Textile Designer. There will also be a display entitled Something New.

A veteran’s breakfast club is held in the Lakeside Centre, North Moor Lane, on the first and third Saturday of the month commencing at 9.30am. All veterans are welcome to enjoy a breakfast and a chat.

Thorney Close Karate Club meets in Thorney Close Enterprise Centre every Friday from 5pm to 6pm. All ages and abilities are welcome. Pop along or ring 07948374298.
