Herringtons, Farringdon and Lakeside - Down Your Way

The regular monthly coffee morning at Middle Herrington Methodist Church was in aid of the Oasis Trust. In the UK the trust works alongside people to bring hope and transform lives and ultimately communities. The Trust has been invited to assist child refugees received into the UK from the Calais Jungle and proceeds of the coffee morning will be donated to this work. A feature of the morning, which is open to all residents, is a Fairtrade stall. Anne Farrow is seen with Councillor Gillian Galbraith and Ann Scott.

East Herrington Townswomen’s Guild will meet tonight in St Chad’s Church Hall at 7.15pm. The speakers will be Peter and Jan, who will talk about Magistrates in the Community followed by questions and answers. Visitors and new members are welcome.

A veteran’s breakfast club is held in the Lakeside Centre, North Moor Lane, on the first and third Saturday of the month at 9.30am. All veterans are welcome for breakfast and a chat.

Members of Lakeside Residents' Association held a special remembrance service for the residents of the area.

This year Lakeside Residents’ Association has been able to provide an Armistice Day service followed by hot drinks and soup in the community cafe for the residents of Lakeside. Committee members have been selling poppies and on Remembrance Day the treasurer, Mr Hunter, took part in Sunderland’s City service placing a wreath on the cenotaph. Thanks to all those who helped at the events.
