Sunderland Civic Society meets at Age UK the Bradbury Centre, Stockton Road, on Thursday, March 10, at 6pm for its AGM followed by speaker Carol Freeman. Visitors are welcome to the talk, entrance is £1.

Join costume designer Meredith Towne for a lively talk celebrating women’s fashion throughout history, part of International Women’s Day. Glitz and Glamour will feature a display of original costumes and accessories at Sunderland City Library and Arts Centre on Tuesday, March 8, at 10.30am. Sunderland Pianoforte Society will meet in Sunderland Pottery Room at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens, Burdon Road, on Tuesday, March 8, at 7.15pm for a recital by Dario Llanos Javierre. Entrance is £12.50 and full subscription (6 recitals) is £60, Accompanied children (16 and under) go free, full-time students and those in receipt of benefit £6. Programme will include Liszt: Grosses Koncert solo S176. Albeniz: 4 pieces from lberia. Turina: Cinco danzas gitanas. Beethoven: Sonata (TBA).
