Sunderland Minster Rainbows ( formerly Christ Church) have just celebrated their 25th birthday. They held a big birthday party inviting old Rainbows and new ones along to celebrate with their parents. Rainbow Guider is Paula Sumner.

Nifty Fifties will meet in Sunderland City Library and Arts Centre on Thursday,March 31, from 1.30pm–2.30pm. Speaker will be Robert Moon on Our Finest Hour. Entrance is £2.50, which includes refreshments. Ring 5611235 for further information.

Dame Dorothy Dole will take place at Sunderland Old Parish Church of The Holy Trinity on Thursday at 2pm. Maunday Thursday is the beginning of the three-day celebration of Easter, an important time for Christians. It commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles. In Britain today, the Queen follows a very traditional role of giving Maunday Money to a group of pensioners. It dates back to the 13th century. All are welcome to attend.

Book an afternoon tea for you and your friends (six and over) in Donnison School, which is a grade II listed building. Cost is £7 per person, which includes coffee or tea with scones, sandwiches and cakes and an illustrated talk. Ring 0191 565 4835 to book.

A toddler group meets on Tuesdays in Sunderland Minster from 9.30am -11.30am. Refreshments are available. All are welcome

At Sunderland Maritime Heritage work is progressing well on the Willdora cabin. Feel free to go down to have a look. Members are working on their website and if you have any ideas on the content that you would like to see contact them.
