Friends of Sunderland Museum (Fosums) will meet on Saturday in Sunderland Museum, Burdon Road, at 2pm. Speaker Eric Fletcher will talk about The Coming of the Railways in Sunderland. Visitors welcome, charge £1.

Sunderland Pianoforte Society will meet in the Sunderland Pottery Room at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens, Burdon Road, on Tuesday, April 12, at 7.15pm. There will be a recital by Jens Hagen Wegner. The programme will include: Liszt: Liebestraum ‘Seliger Tod’ Liebestraum ‘O lieb’ Harmonies poetiques et religieuses; Chopin: Sonata Op. 35; Dohnanyi: Valse Impromptu Landler Kaskaden 2 Etudes from Op. 28 Rhapsodie Op. 11Nr.3. Full subscription is (6 recitals) £60, individual recitals £12.50 accompanied children (16 and under) free, full-time students and those in receipt of benefit £6.

Nifty Fifties will meet in Sunderland City Library and Arts Centre on Thursday, April 14, from 1.30pm -2.30pm. Entrance is £2.50, which includes refreshments. Ring 561 1235 for further information.
