Hendon - Down Your Way

Nifty Fifties will meet in Sunderland City Library and Arts Centre on Thursday from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. The talk will be about the Great North Air Ambulance. Entrance is £2.50 which includes refreshments. For more details, ring 5611235.

Hendon History Group will meet on Thursday at the Back on the Map Hub in Hendon’s former Carnagie Library, Villette Road, at 6.30pm. There will be an update of Hendon past and present group projects. Everyone is welcome.

A Big Family Fun Run will take place on Saturday. Activities will start at 1pm with the runs taking place from 4pm. There will be 1.5k and a 3k run suitable for all ages and abilities. Free family fun activities will include sport taster sessions. Group discounts and training plans are available. This is a great fundraising opportunity for your chosen charity/groups. There will also be discounted entry for future Big events. Entry is online at £10 per person, which includes technical t-shirt, medal and goody bag. Afternoon Tea for groups of six or more are available at Donnison School, which is a gradeII listed building. Cost is £7 per person and includes coffee or tea with scones, sandwiches and cakes as well as an illustrated talk. Ring 0191 565 4835 to book.

A toddler Group meets on Tuesdays in Sunderland Minster from 9.30am -11.30am. Refreshments are available.

Foyle Street Writers meet in Sunderland City Library on Thursdays from 10am–noonto share ideas and support fellow creative writers. New members are welcome.

Sunderland Antiquarian Society Archives at the Sunderland Antiquarian and Heritage Centre, 6 Douro Terrace, is open for research on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9.30am to noon.
