Sunderland Civic Society will meet at Age UK the Bradbury Centre, Stockton Road, on Thursday at 6pm. Speaker Dan Hattle, Planning Implementation Manager, Planning and Property, will talk about planning issues now and in the future. Visitors are welcome to the talk entrance is £1.

Friends of Sunderland Museum (Fosums) will meet on Saturday in Sunderland Museum, Burdon Road, at 2pm. Speaker Niall Benson will talk about The Durham Heritage Coast. Visitors welcome, charge is £1.

Trinity Sunday Service will be held in Holy Trinity Church, Sunderland Parish, on Saturday, May 21, at 3pm. Trinity Sunday falls one week after Pentecost Sunday and is the day set aside to honour the most fundamental of Christian beliefs – the Holy Trinity.

A friendly bridge club is looking for new members, partners not needed. Members meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1pm to 4.30pm in the lounge of Beaumont Lodge, Toward Road. For further information, ring 0191 597 1941.

Hendon Community Association, based in Seafarers Way, Moor Terrace, runs a drop-in luncheon club on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8.30am to 3.30pm. Bingo is played on Mondays from 6.30pm to 9.30pm (over 18s). For further information, ring 0191 565 5648.

Foyle Street Writers meet weekly in Sunderland City Library on a Thursday from 10am-noon.They share ideas and support fellow creative writers. New members are welcome.

Sunderland Antiquarian Society Archives at the Sunderland Antiquarian and Heritage Centre, 6 Douro Terrace, is open for research on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9.30am-noon.

At Sunderland Maritime Heritage, work is progressing well on the Willdora cabin. All are welcome to go down to have a look. The website was launched last week.
