The sixth Sunderland History Fair arranged by Sunderland Heritage Forum will take place at the Quayside Exchange in High Street East 10am'“4pm on Saturday.Speakers include Alan Owen, will talk at noon about 'The Day the German Navy came to destroy Sunderland on August 18, 1916.Richard Gameson, a Professor of Durham University and an expert on medieval manuscripts, will talk on the 'Codex Amiatinus: a short account of a big book', at 2pm.

Hendon Community Association now meets in its new premises in Seafarers Way, Moor Terrace, Hendon, SR1 2JH.

There is a drop-in luncheon Club on Tuesday and Thursday, open from 8.30am to 3.30pm.

There is also bingo on Monday evenings, 6.30pm to 9.30pm (over 18s).

Sunderland Antiquarian Society Archives at the Sunderland Antiquarian and Heritage Centre, 6 Douro Terrace, is now open for research tomorrow, from 9.30am-noon, also on Friday and Saturday at 9.30am-noon.

Donnison School are looking for people with some spare time to join the volunteers to help prepare for its Summer Fair on June 25.

There is a toddler group held on Tuesday mornings at Sunderland Minster 9.30am-1.30am.

Refreshments are available for parents and children. All welcome.

A beginner’s session is held by Hendon Karate Class at Cheers public house tomorrow at 6pm-7pm.

A class is also held on Friday at 6pm-7pm.
