Friends of Sunderland Museum (Fosums) will meet on Saturday, July 9, in Sunderland Museum, Burdon Road, at 2pm. Speaker will be Liesbeth Langford on Growing Up in Occupied Holland. Visitors are welcome, charge £2.

Old Township Heritage Society’s Georgian Summer Delight will take place on Saturday, July 9, from 11.30am at Donnison School, Church Walk, East End. Go along and enjoy the outside gardens and have a strawberry tea with friends. All are welcome.

Drop-in sessions are held at the YMCA, 2- 3 Toward Road, on Tuesdays from 2pm to 4pm. It offers advice on the types of accommodation at the YMCA for 16 to 35-year-olds. You can also ring 0191 5676160 for advice.

The Big Friendly Read is a Summer Reading Challenge. Young volunteers are wanted, aged 13 and over, with spare time during the summer break to help support library staff deliver the National Summer Reading Challenge from Saturday, July 16, in libraries across Sunderland. Foyle Street Writers meet weekly in Sunderland City Library on a Thursday from 10am-noon. Members share ideas and support fellow creative writers. New members are welcome.

Sunderland Antiquarian Society Archives at the Sunderland Antiquarian and Heritage Centre, 6 Douro Terrace, are open for research on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9.30am-noon.
