Afternoon Christmas Victorian Teas can be booked at the Donnison School at £8 per person, which includes coffee or tea with scones, sandwiches, mince pies, Christmas food and an illustrated talk. Sunderland Pianoforte Society will meet in the Sunderland Pottery Room at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens, Burdon Road tonight at 7.15pm for a recital with Ashley Fripp.

Full Subscription (six recitals) costs £60, individual recitals £12.50, accompanied children (16 and under) free and full-time students and those in receipt of unemployment benefit £6.

Every Friday at The Salvation Army, Cairo Street, there is a free coffee morning from 9.30am to 11.30am, along with a table-top sale.

On Thursday, December 8, The Salvation Army, Cairo Street, will be holding a community carol service, during which a collection will be taken for The Anthony Nolan Trust – Diamond Blackfan Anaemia Fund. Southwick Community Primary School Choir, Sunderland Citadel Salvation Army Band, Songsters and Timbrelist will be performing with a Special guest also making and appearance.
