Heavy smoke fills air as three fire engines attend boat on fire in Sunderland

Three fire engines have been sent to the scene of a boat blaze in Sunderland.

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue service were alerted to an incident in the Deptford area of Sunderland at around 1.30pm on Saturday, February 15.

Crews remain at the scene near Ropery Road where a boat is on fire producing thick smoke.

At around 1.40pm, a spokesperson for the brigade said: “We’ve got three fire engines in attendance and an officer is heading there now.”
