The game was overshadowed by the news that manager Sam Allardyce is set to take charge of the England team but it didn't stop thousands of Sunderland fans enjoying their first glimpse of the players this season.

Jermain Defoe scored twice and Wahbi Khazri also netted in the pre-season friendly win.
