Grindon - Down Your Way

At Grindon Church Community Project (GCCP) in Galway Road there are a wide range of volunteering activities as we continue to develop the building and facilities. If you can wield a paint brush, a spade or a pen, why not get in touch and come and make some new friends and have some fun. We're open most days, the kettle is always on, and we can guarantee a warm welcome. Call on 0191 534 2519.

Tuesday from 6.30pm to 7.15pm is Clubbercise, followed by a Body Toning Class from 7.15pm to 8pm.

The Bushido Ju-Jitsu Academy runs at GCCP, teaching a variety of techniques, including self defence. Beginners and more advanced members aged from six and upwards will be welcome on Thursdays, 6pm to 7pm. No upper age limit, so call and meet Craig for more details.

The A690 Holiday Activities Programme will be taking place at St Oswald’s Church from 10am to 2pm, Tuesday, February 21, to Thursday, February 23, for young people from across the west ward. We offer a diverse programme of fun and interactive activities inclusive of a free lunch. Places can be reserved on the Facebook page or by contacting Danielle Oliver on 07917 035960.

A690 also be hosting a free lunch at St Oswald’s Church on Friday, February 24, for local residents to come along, meet A690 staff and find out about their extensive youth work programme, including training and volunteer opportunities, accredited courses and learning, sporting activities, educational workshops and NEET programmes.

At the Church of the Holy Family in Gardner Road, Grindon, there will be a St Patrick’s Night on Friday, March 10. There will be a ceilidh band, buffet and bingo, bring your own bottles. Adults pay £10, under-16s pay £5, and under-12s go free. More details and tickets from Elizabeth on 0798 451763.
