Grangetown and Ashbrooke - Down Your Way

Blue Watch Youth Centre will be holding a Community Day at the community centre, Stannington Grove, near Hill View, on Tuesday, July 26, from 11 am to 1pm. Entry is free with free activities including karaoke, tombola, arts and crafts, paint workshop, model making, penalty shoot-out and a barbecue. The event is supported by Sunderland Council's Strategic Initiative Budget

Friends of Backhouse Park and Barley Mow Park, chaired by Claire Wayman, met recently. Various important issues relating to both parks were discussed by members, who were joined by Nicky Rowland, (Sunderland City Council), plus ward Councillors Michael Dixon, Robert Oliver and Peter Wood, all St Michael’s, and Barbara McClennan, Hendon. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, August 16, at 6.15pm, venue to be decided.

St Michael’s Councillors Michael Dixon, Robert Oliver and Peter Wood will hold their next ward surgery on Wednesday, July 27, at the Community Association, Stannington Grove, from 10am to 11am.

St John’s Scout Group Ashbrooke is looking for volunteers. If you are interested in working with children and young people between the ages of six and 18, contact [email protected] for details of this and other Beavers, Cubs and Scouts groups in the Sunderland area.

Ashmore Residents’ Association, chaired by Liz Griffiths, met recently at the British Legion Club, Grange Crescent. Many issues were discussed including litter, weeds, fly-tipping, parking, road repairs and housing. Residents were joined by St Michael’s ward Councillors, Michael Dixon, Robert Oliver and Peter Wood. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 7, same venue, at 7.30pm

Thornholme Residents’ Association will hold its next meeting on Monday, August 1, at Ashbrooke Sports Club, West Lawn, at 6pm

St Michael’s Residents’ Association will meet on Wednesday, July 27, at Auckland Homes, Hill View Road, at 6.30pm.
