He added: “We strongly believe that North East businesses play a huge part in making the region such a great place to live and work, and the awards are a great way to celebrate their hard work, commitment and success.

“They should be recognised for their hard work and commitment. Last year, there we seen some excellent organisations nominated for the awards and we can’t wait to see this years’ entries.

“We wish the very best of luck to all entrants and look forward to what will no doubt prove to be another great event.”

Maxim employs around 500 people from Southampton to Sterling and Mr Conway added: “Our USP lies in our customer focused approach and flat management structure, allowing us to respond rapidly and make important decision swiftly for our customers.

This year’s awards are now well under way but there is still plenty of time for people to submit entries.

Make it Sunderland is again our headline sponsor, and will sponsor our overall Business of the Year Award, as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award, which is in the sponsor’s gift.

Make It Sunderland is also backing the contribution social enterprises make to the city in the Social Enterprise Award.
