A 13-year-old girl was assaulted by a man who approached her in the street close to Oxclose School.

Police are investigating the incident, which happened around 5.24pm yesterday, near to Oxclose Comprehensive School in Washington.

The girl was not injured in the incident.

The man had a shaven bald head and was wearing a black and orange tracksuit.

Detective Sergeant Ed Hedley said: "If anyone was in this area on Thursday evening around the time of the incident then we would urge them to come forward and speak to us as they may have information that can help our enquiries.

"At the current time we do not what the motive was for this incident which is why it is important we identify the man so we can speak to him

"Likewise, if anyone knows who this man is we would ask them to get in contact. He was wearing a distinctive black and orange tracksuit, which someone may remember."
