Furniture store and fast food outlet plans

A new furniture store and a fast food outlet could be built in Sunderland should plans get the green light.

Home Living North East Ltd has applied to the city’s council to create a two-storey furniture shop in Salterfen Lane, off Ryhope Road, Ryhope.

A single storey fast food store, details of which are not yet available, will also be built as part of the development.

Parking and landscaping work would be undertaken as well. The area where the buildings could be created are just yards from a Lidl supermarket, a McDonald’s, and The Sandcastle pub.

A consultation over the plans, which can be viewed on Sunderland City Council’s planning portal, ends on Monday, February 15.

A decision over whether to approve the proposal is expected to be made by Thursday, April 21.
