Safiyyah Mae Touray, nine, from Fulwell Junior School, recently passed her 1st Dan black belt in the martial art of Shotokan Karate. Safiyyah worked very hard in the lead-up to the grading, making everyone very proud of her achievement. Her brother Habib will be going for his black belt this year and hopefully making it a family affair. Monkwearmouth Drama Group will be holding a read-through for Oliver Twist on February 1 in the Priestman Hall, St Andrew’s Church, Roker, at 7.30pm. St Andrew’s Snooker Club would welcomes new members, over 18 yeats. The club is situated at the west end of Priestman hall up two flights of stairs. Wearside Photo Imaging is a small camera club of photographic enthusiasts, who meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month at Fulwell Community Association, Chapman Street, at 7pm.
