Safiyyah Mae Touray, nine, from Fulwell Junior School, recently passed her 1st Dan black belt in the martial art of Shotokan Karate. Safiyyah worked very hard in the lead-up to the grading, making everyone very proud of her achievement. Her brother Habib will be going for his black belt this year and hopefully making it a family affair. Monkwearmouth Drama Group will be holding a read-through for Oliver Twist on February 1 in the Priestman Hall, St Andrew’s Church, Roker, at 7.30pm. No experience needed only energy and enthusiasm and you do not have to be a member. The performances will be on June 2, 3 and 4. Please note this is a play and not the musical.

Fulwell WI will meet tonight in Fulwell Community Centre, Chapman Street, at 7.15pm. Healthy eating is the theme so take along healthy nibbles of your choice. Table-top will be unwanted gifts.

St Andrew’s Snooker Club would welcomes new members, over 18 yeats. The club is situated at the west end of Priestman hall up two flights of stairs.
