A photographic display of Stained Glass Windows will take place in the Volunteer Life Brigade Watch House, Pier Parade, Roker, by local photographer and Brigade man Larry Hetherington over the Easter weekend from noon-4pm each day with refreshments and a free tour of the Sunderland Volunteer Life Brigade Museum.

Pam and Melanie, from Fulwell WI, have taken over three derelict allotments on Shields Road, Sunderland. They are hoping to turn them into community allotments for people who would like to be part of a community, enjoy the outdoor life and gardening. If you would like to help clearing these allotments and eventually have a piece of land to grow your own produce, contact Pam on 0191 5484764 or 07920427982 or Melanie on 07809434561 to arrange a meeting. The venue is run by Fulwell WI and paid for by charitable donations and events, people who receive plots do not pay for them.

Easter Services in Monkwearmouth Parish are: At St Andrew’s, Roker: Good Friday at 10am worship for everyone, followed by hot cross buns served in the hall. Then at 2pm Good Friday Liturgy with sermon and hymns. Easter Day: 8am Holy Communion, 9.30am Holy Eucharist. At All Saints’ Good Friday, 2pm, an hour’s Devotion with hymns. Easter Day 10.30am Holy Communion. At St Peter’s Good Friday 10am Stations of the Cross then at 2pm Liturgy and Veneration of the Cross. Easter Day 11am Holy Eucharist with Easter festivities from 10.15am.
