Fulwell, Roker and Seaburn - Down Your Way

Roker Crafts meets from 1pm to 3pm in Roker Methodist Church hall. Each session is led by a member of the group. On Fri 1st April '“ Moira '“ Decorated Tubs, pompoms. Please bring with you a basic craft kit (pen, pencil, scissors etc.) it would be helpful if have pompom kits '“ plastic ones. We will also make pompoms in the traditional manner with card. Monkwearmouth Local History Group meets on Mon 4th April at 2pm in the Fellowship Room at Roker Methodist Church, Roker Park Road, Roker for a talk by speaker Linda King entitled: Pedagogues, Perps, Prostitutes and Piles. Visitors are always welcome.

An enjoyable evening was had by all at the St Patrick’s Night in Bede’s Bake House last week. Everyone sang along with entertainers Joan and Gordon.

Volunteers are needed to clear the stream and path behind Monkwearmouth Academy, leading to the cemetery. Gloves and tools provided. If you can spend an hour or more, you will be made most welcome. Come along and make a difference, meet at the bridge behind Staveley Road on April 2 and 3 at 10am. Phone Maureen on 5760855 for more information.

Pam and Melanie from Fulwell WI have taken over three derelict allotments on Shields Road, Sunderland. They are hoping to turn these into Community allotments for people who would like to be part of a community and enjoy the outdoor life and gardening. If you would like to help in clearing these allotments and eventually have a piece of land to grow your own produce on the site, contact Pam on 0191 5484764 or 07920 427982 or Melanie on 07809 434561 to arrange a meeting. The venue is run by Fulwell WI and paid for by charitable donations and events, people who receive plots do not pay for them. A great time in the blue bell for St Patrick’s night, organised by Melanie and Pam from Fulwell WI. We would like to say a big thank you to Gerry and his canny folk band for there great tunes and also to Paul, staff and especially Stacey, who were all so helpful and kindly donated two Sunday lunches as a raffle prize. We raised £314.40 for our community allotment on Shields Road. Thank you to everyone that supported us.

A two-day holiday football course will take place in Monkwearmouth School, for boys and girls aged 4 to 14 yrs on Thurs 31st March and Fri 1st April from 10am to 3pm. Cost £20. To book, ring or text Paul on 07736942638.

Redby Community Centre, Fulwell Road is pleased to announce the re-opening of its Parent and Toddler Group. It will be held in the Centre every Monday at 9.30am-11.00am (term time only). All pre-school children are welcome. Any queries phone 0191 548 4515.
