Fulwell Community Association’s AGM will take place on Wednesday, May 11, at 7pm in the centre, Chapman Street, Fulwell. Business is to elect officers and committee and receive reports and accounts.

All Saints’ Ladies’ Fellowship meets in the vestry meeting room at All Saints’ Church, Fulwell Road, tomorrow at 7.45pm. Speaker will be Joan Green talking about To See Ourselves As Others See Us. All ladies are welcome.

Roker United Reformed Church Fellowship will meet on Tuesday, May 3, at 2pm for a talk on Forget Me Knot. All are welcome to join them.

Balletbefit adult classes are held in Fulwell Community Centre, Chapman Street. It is fitness with a difference and suitable for all abilities. There is no need to have previous dance experience. Roker Crafts meet from 1pm to 3pm in Roker Methodist Church hall. Each session is led by a member of the group. On Fri day, Pam will lead a session on Decoupage Cards. Take along a basic craft kit (pen, pencil, scissors etc). Ring 5495878 for further information.

Wearside Photo Imaging is a small camera club of photographic enthusiasts who meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month at Fulwell Community Association, Chapman Street, at 7pm. Activities are many and aimed at increasing knowledge in photography and image manipulation.

neSlimmers classes are held in Chapman Street Community Centre every Wednesday at 6pm. There is no joining fee, pay only as you attend. For more details search for them on Facebook at North East Slimmers.

Sunderland Public Libraries offers a home delivery service providing books and audio items to customers who are unable to access a library themselves, either due to age, ill health, disability or long or short term mobility problems. Representatives from three local Rotary Clubs, Sunderland, SR1 and Wearside attended a Seaburn Rotary Club meeting to hear a presentation by St John Ambulance on dealing with heart attacks. Andrew Horsely and Colin Jameson, from St John, explained that cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anytime and the chance of survival falls by about 10% for each minute that passes without resuscitation. A demonstration of manual resuscitation was given. Alternatively resuscitation can be by a machine called a defibrillator, which delivers a dose of electric current to the heart to stimulate recovery. No special knowledge is required to operate a defibrillator. At the end of the evening Keith Higgin, of Seaburn Club, presented the St John representatives with a cheque for £1,000 on behalf of the four Rotary Clubs represented to assist in the purchase of a defibrillator.Andrew Horsely explained that the defibrillator will be a very useful backup to a St John team when they on public events duties or called to an emergency.

The youngest black belt in Redby Karate Club, Daniel Green, congratulated William Rostron on his achievement in a recent competition. William has accumulated many trophies and he is well on his way to achieving his goal of joining Daniel as black belt.They train at Redby Community Centre, on Tuesdays and Sundays.
