Friends are much needed

Ashley Sutherland was appointed as my replacement so the group is in safe hands.

I have enjoyed my time as chairman. There have been challenges such as having to change from evenings to day time for our meetings to save costs.

During those 10 years I have met many interesting people and made many friends.

I would like to say a sincere thank you to those who have supported me over the years and to everyone who donated to the generous gifts I received on my retirement.

The current austerity regime means the museum needs ‘Friends’ more than ever to help at events and with fundraising.

The museum is the number one visitor attraction in our city and new ‘Friends’ are needed.

We hold monthly meetings, usually on the second Saturday of the month at 2pm and have talks about history, culture and art.

Membership forms are available at the museum shop and anyone who joins, or comes as a visitor, is always welcome.
