Former Sunderland defender Marc Wilson set for Championship switch

The Black Cats released Wilson earlier in the summer after his season-long loan came to a conclusion.

Wilson had a medical yesterday and is set to become Phil Parkinson's sixth summer signing, according to the Bolton News.

The 30-year-old made 22 appearances in all competitions last season.

Bolton and Sunderland are battling to sign Bradford City striker Charlie Wyke.

Wyke is expected to miss the start of the League One season with an injury picked up last week but neither club have been deterred by the setback.

The 25-year-old scored 16 goals in 43 appearances for the Bantams last season.
