Forensic officers pictured in Sunderland street as investigation into 'unexplained' death continues

Forensic officers remain on the scene in a Sunderland street one day on from the discovery of a man’s body.

Northumbria Police was called to Aintree Road, Farrindgon, at around midday on Wednesday, June 3 to reports of concern for a man.

Officers were asked to attend the scene by the North East Ambulance Service. The man’s body was found at an address in the street.

A day later – on Thursday, June 4 – a large cordon remained in place at the scene, with forensics officers seen carrying out inquiries in the area.

Speaking on Wednesday, a force spokesman confirmed that the man’s death was being treated as ‘unexplained’ by police, with an investigation underway.

His statement said: “Emergency services attended and found the body of a man, whose death is currently being treated as unexplained. Inquiries are ongoing.”
