Five charged over Sunderland shooting to face trial

The suspects were arrested after a house was shot at in a Sunderland street in February.

Ellis Dobbing, Jevan Doyle, John Bailey, Steven Palmer and Marc Bogie all appeared together in the dock at Newcastle Crown Court this morning.

None of them were asked to enter a plea to any charges they face as their defence teams have not yet been served with the vast amount of evidence involved in the case.

Prosecutor Jolyon Perks told the court a trial is estimated to last five weeks.

Judge Robert Adams said the case will start on November 6 next year.

The five men all face charges of conspiracy to possess a firearm to enable another person to endanger life.

They are also charged with possession of ammunition to enable another person to endanger life and conspiracy to enable another person to endanger life.

All three charges cover a period between February 1 and March 31 this year.

The men were arrested after a window was shot at in Edgmond Court, Hollycarrside, on February 29.

Nobody was in the property at the time and nobody was hurt.

Dobbing, 23, of Ashdale Court, Sunderland, Doyle, 22, of Fordenbridge Road, Sunderland, Bogie, 29, of Leechmere Road, Sunderland, Bailey, 32, of Fordfield Road, Sunderland and Palmer, 32, of Neville Road, South Denton, Newcastle,were all granted bail.
