Crews from Washington and Birtley stations were called to Middle Close, in Harraton, at 11.19pm last night.

A fire had broken out in the kitchen of a terrace bungalow.

The kitchen was severely damaged by fire, heat, and smoke, and the rest of the property was left smoke damaged.
