Watch manager Mick Corfield said: “At approximately 1800 hours we attended a large grass and gorse fire, which was at the rear of Peterlee Football Club.
“What concerned me the most was that there was a large amount of livestock in the field. Luckily the wind was blowing in the opposite direction.
“The information I gathered at the time was that youths from the age of 13 to 16 had started the fire.

“They need to also be aware that this is a criminal offence and has a massive impact on us as a fire service.
