Fire service thanks as Sunderland community supports crews responding to house blaze

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service were called to an address in Abercorn Road, Farringdon after receiving reports of a house fire on Thursday, May 8.

Crews from across the Sunderland area attended a house fire at an address in Abercorn Road, Farringdon, with firefighters called to the scene at around 7.30pm on Thursday, May 7.

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (TWFRS) confirmed that the cause of the blaze was a grill pan, which had set on fire.

Crews from Farringdon and Sunderland Central were able to swiftly bring the situation under control before ensuring the property was safe for those living there.

TWFRS thanked residents living nearby for their support while crews dealt with the incident on Thursday.

A Tweet from the offical TWFRS account added: “A big thank you to the residents in Farringdon who showed their appreciation to our green watch crews while dealing with a house fire tonight.

“Watch Manager Andy Smith said it was very humbling.”
