Fire crews fight large blaze at County Durham beauty spot

Fire crews have been called to a large blaze that has broken out at a popular beauty spot near Chester-le-Street.

County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service confirmed on Saturday, April 10 that four of its fire appliances and a targeted response vehicle (TRV) have been dispatched to tackle the incident.

A post on the service’s Facebook page at midday on Saturday added: “For information we have crews currently dealing with a large fire on Waldridge Fell.

"Four fire appliances and 1 TRV in attendance.”
