Fire crews called to blaze at Wearside allotment
Fire crews have tackled a large blaze which tore through a Wearside allotment.
Crews from Sunderland Central and Rainton Bridge fire stations were called to the Fletcher Crescent Allotment in New Herrington, at 1.20pm on October 5, following reports of a rubbish fire.
Fire fighters spent 30 minutes tackling the blaze which spread through the allotment causing 100% fire damage.
No one was injured and crews left the scene at 2pm.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. Rainton Bridge fire investigation team will be looking into the cause of the blaze.
