Fifty reasons to celebrate upcoming Sunderland festival

Five decades of feasting will be marked with a run of extra special events.

Houghton Feast 50 has been launched to celebrate the anniversary since the festival made its return, with Sunderland City Council’s Coalfield Area Committee and partners backing the plans.

Committee chairman Councillor Anne Lawson, was joined by logo designer seven-year-old Jack Craine, from Dubmire Academy, and members of the event’s planning group.

Coun Lawson said: “We all look forward to this fantastic annual community event which we hope will continue for many years to come.”

This year’s event begins on Friday, October 6, and the programme is available at www.houghtonfeast.co.uk.
