
The bike is believed to have hit a bus stop close to Angelo’s, in Durham Road, at about 5.25pm on Sunday.
The Great North Air Ambulance was called to the scene to treat the rider – a woman in her 40s – along with paramedics from the North East Ambulance Service.
She was taken to the RVI in Newcastle, where she was said today in be in a 'critical but stable condition.'
