Fears over facilities

At the last full meeting of council, I proposed a motion, seconded by my St Peter's ward colleague councillor Shirley Leadbitter, expressing support for the seafront developments which are currently in keeping with the character of the area and in accord with the views of local residents.

The very important point was also made that to be successful any future developments will need to embrace the provision of all-weather facilities.

Council was also told that there is considerable disquiet among residents about the number of houses and lack of all-weather facilities in proposals presently under consideration.

The motion was passed with a very large majority and I will be pursuing the cabinet members responsible to find out just what these all-weather facilities will be and how the current proposals will be amended.
