Fan blog: Something has to change to avoid Sunderland's 10-year Premier League stay coming to a sad and tragic end

Boos rang out at The Stadium of Light, but Jones still made his way around the pitch to acknowledge the supporters, raising his hand apologetically in the process; recognising the potential impact his gilt-edged second half header may have on the remainder of Sunderland's season.

He should score, we all know that but to be fair, Jones put in a decent shift, and it is not his primary function to make runs into the area in the hoping of scoring.

Fabio Borini has made public noises alluding to the fact that he's unhappy where David Moyes is playing him.

Despite that, Borini has missed some glorious opportunities himself in recent weeks, which are his bread and butter.

He looks bereft of confidence, the work rate and energy hasn't been at his usual levels for some time, and my, does it show.

If we're going to be ruthless, he's got one meaningless league goal to his name this season and Borini is by far the more culpable in terms of wasting chances; and not just against Burnley either.

The gap between bottom and safety has now widened to 7 points, and with only 10 games to play, the picture is looking extremely bleak to say the least.

By his own admission, Moyes had the Burnley game down as a must win, going on to say draws must now be turned in to wins.

That's all well and good David, but time is running out. Hope is dwindling. White flags are being readied.

Something desperately needs to change.

Something has got to change, otherwise our decade-long top flight stay will come to an end.

What a sad and tragic waste that would be.
