Family of woman knocked down and killed on County Durham road pay tribute
Hazel Nunn, 36, died at the scene on the A181 after a red Seat Ibiza car collided with her shortly after 2:30pm on Wednesday.
The collision occurred close to the junction of Ludworth and Shadforth, near Thornley in County Durham.

Hide AdIn their statement Miss Nunn’s family said: “Hazel was a much-loved member of our family who had a huge passion for life, the outdoors, her family and large circle of friends.
“To all who knew her, she was a wonderful, caring and loving person who touched so many lives in so many ways. All her family and friends are totally devastated by the loss.”
The road was closed for around three hours while officers from the collision investigation unit examined the scene.
The driver of the Seat, a 51-year- old woman from Peterlee, was uninjured.

Hide AdSergeant Glyn Bavin, of the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit, said: “We are trying to piece together the sequence of events leading up to
this tragic incident, and are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or spoken to Miss Nunn prior to it.”
Miss Nunn, from the Hertfordshire area, was believed to be wearing a turquoise beanie hat with a bright yellow band at the bottom, a dark blue ‘bomber’ style jacket, dark blue jeans
and black trainers with a white sole.
She she was also carrying a medium-sized beige hessian bag and a dark-coloured ‘ruck sack’ with an unusual white ‘zig zag’ design.
