Ex-Sunderland boss leaves Bradford City

The former Leeds, Preston and Sunderland boss joined the Bantams in February following the dismissal of Stuart McCall and oversaw just three wins in 14 matches.

Grayson was sacked as Sunderland boss on October 31 after just 18 games as Sunderland manager, with the team 22nd in the Championship.

Chris Coleman replaced him in the dugout at the Stadium of Light but was unable to steer the club away from relegation, with Sunderland dropping into League One.

Grayson said: “After conversations with the owners I have decided to turn down the option to extend my contract.

“This was an extremely difficult decision as I have enjoyed my time at Valley Parade.

“I would like to thank everyone at Bradford City, from the owners to the supporters, who have turned out in their numbers both home and away since I have been manager of their club.

“I wish the club all the best for the future.”

Grayson’s assistant Glynn Snodin, who was also his No.2 at Sunderland, has also left the club but both will attend Friday’s memorial service for those affected by the 1985 Valley Parade fire. Poor form in 2018 saw Bradford slip away from League One play-off contention, with the Bantams finishing 11th.
