Emergency services called to coast twice over weekend
Emergency services were called to the coast late last night after reports of concern for a woman.
South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade (SSVLB) and Sunderland Coastguard Rescue Team were deployed to Marsden shortly after 10.30pm.
“The team were tasked along with our colleagues from Sunderland Coastguard Rescue Team to the Marsden area after a report of a despondent female threatening self harm,” said a SSVLB statement.
"Teams had just started their search pattern when we received information that she had been found safe and well at home.
"Remember for all Coastal emergencies dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
It was a second call-out of the weekend for the two teams, who were also asked to help Northumbria Police on Saturday afternoon: "The team were paged to assist police with an incident at Trow Rocks along with Sunderland Coastguard Rescue Team,” said the SSVLB.
"The incident was successfully resolved by police officers and members of both teams not long after arrival.”
