Police were called to Whitburn Road, Sunderland at 4.15pm yesterday, June 15 following reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles.

Two occupants received treatment for minor injuries.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 4.15pm yesterday (Monday) we received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Whitburn Road, Sunderland.

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service also attended.

A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that on Monday June 14 a crew from Marley Park Community Fire Station attended a road traffic collision.

"The crew were on the scene at 16:29, which is a response time of 5-minutes from the initial emergency call being received by our TWFRS Control Room team.

“The firefighters made the vehicle safe, and mopped up the fuel spillage that had leaked from the car.”
