The show will be Elton’s first on Tyneside since 2014, and will see him performing songs from new album Wonderful Crazy Night, which will be released on February 5, alongside some of his greatest hits.

Elton, who has more than 4,000 live shows under his belt, said: “The simple truth is I want to spend more time with my family, and I am only too aware of just how precious the time ahead is.

"My sons are growing up so quickly; their early years are just flying by and I want to be there with them. So these concerts will give me the chance to thank the Newcastle audiences who have been so faithful to me over these many decades.”

Elton John has sold more than 250 million records worldwide, and has been awarded multiple Grammys and Brits, and even an Oscar and a Tony Award.
