Elliot Embleton will meet with Sunderland manager Jack Ross to decide on his future '“ but says he's loved his loan spell at Grimsby Town.

The 19-year-old has impressed since joining the Mariners during the summer transfer window, playing a big part in the side’s upturn in form in recent months.

The England youth star has scored four goals for the League Tow outfit but sees his spell at Blundell Park end in the New Year.

Grimsby are keen to extend the midfielder’s stay, with Town boss Michael Jolley having spoken to Ross about Embleton’s future.

And Embleton – who is out of contract at Sunderland in the summer – would welcome a longer stay at the club, should Ross give it his backing.

“I came here for game-time and to show everyone what I can do,” Embleton told the Grimsby Telegraph.

“I got into the team and, since then, I’ve been chipping away by getting goals and getting assists. I’ve been playing well and I’m happy with my performances.

“I just want to do my bit to stay in the team.

“I’ve still got to have a meeting with my manager at Sunderland and we will take it from there.

“I came here for game-time and I’ve loved it. Now that I’m in the team, creating and scoring goals I love it even more.

“If I do come back I would have no problems with that.”

Ross has previously hinted at sending Embleton back out on loan in the summer to give the England U20 international more experience.

He said: “I wouldn’t bring him back if he’s not going to get game-time here, because that’s to the detriment of him in general.

“And also, selfishly for me, I want an Elliot Embleton in my squad who has maybe played 40 first team games, because then he’s better equipped to deal with it.

“We’ve not made a decision either way, if he did continue to play elsewhere for the rest of the season I don’t think it would be a bad thing.”
