Easington MP Grahame Morris visited Seaham Marina as work begun on a purpose built activity centre, which will offer a variety of watersports and outdoor activities on the East Durham coast. The Marina, managed by a Community Interest Company, secured funding from the Coastal Communities Fund to improve the marina’s facilities and develop the new marine activities centre. It will increase opportunities for local families, schools and community groups to participate in water sports such as kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding, which have not previously been available in the area. The activity centre will also facilitate a variety of land activities and outdoor sports too. This complements the existing facilities such as the Waterside Complex where people can enjoy the shops and cafes, as well as the heritage centre in the restored lifeboat house to view the George Elmy lifeboat and learn more about the history of the marina.

The popular Parish Patch Community magazine that has been delivered to all homes in St Mary’s Church parish is running short of deliverers. Schools, groups and news on what is happening in the village is published three times a year. The magazine is compiled, printed and delivered by volunteers, many have been delivering since the start and obviously are getting older. Distributors for 25 – 68 North Crescent are needed as well as the new houses on the old council site, Seaton Close will be the patch. Delivery may only take an hour or two but any help however small would be greatly appreciated. Contact Susan Biermann on 5270331 or email [email protected]
