Thanks to a £50,000 investment from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust the old furniture shop in the former Haswell School, which was dilapidated, with a leaky roof, no heating and problems during the winter months it has been rebuilt. Jane Dixon, founded the charity 40 years ago, for people with learning disabilities after her daughter Lisa needed help. The furniture store is a great asset to the local community and makes a huge difference to the charity funds. Chief executive Hayley Hood, applied to the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, who had previously supported the centre. Durham County Council Chairman Councillor Edward Bell, local parish councillors, Coalfields Regeneration Trust chairman Peter McNestry, attended the official launch.
