St Mary's Church Christmas fair will be held in the Church hall on Saturday from 11am to 1pm.

A table-top sale will be held at the Church of the Ascension hall on Friday at 9.30am in aid of Cancer Research. There will also be a coffee morning.

Easington Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section raised £170 at a bingo evening. They thanked former leaders Caroline Bannister and Terry Black and wished them well on their retirement as leaders.

Christmas ceilidh with pie and peas supper will take place on Saturday at 7pm in Hawthorn Community Centre. Tickets are adults £5, children £2.50. Contact Joanne on 07778 412458 for more details.

Easington Welfare Social Centre has teamed up with Seaham Theatre Productions again this year for its pantomime Dick Whittington and his Cat. This is for all the family to enjoy from December 7 to 9, at 7.15pm, and December 10, at 1.15pm. Advance tickets that are paid for are £5 each or £8 if bought on the door. The Church of the Ascension presents a concert in the church on Friday, December 16, at 7pm with refreshments in the hall after the show. It will feature the Praise Band, Gospel Choir, the Reverends Emma and Kate, the Seatones, Lucy Playle, Roger Key and special guest Louise. Tickets are £5.

On Saturday you can visit Santa in Hawthorn Community Centre from 3pm to 4.15pm. There will be gifts for the children and mince pies and light refreshments will be available. Carols around the Tree will be held with the Pittington Brass Band at 4.30pm and includes switching on the lights. All are welcome.

Easington Brownies took part in the Brownie Challenge Cup at Peterlee Guide House along with local groups. Easington Brownies, with the help of Ellen Ramshaw, won the cup.

The Snowman competition is open to everyone in Hawthorn. Simply make your snowman from any material. Place in a window or front garden (must be visible from public footpath), let a councillor or parish clerk know or when Santa visits Hawthorn centre on Saturday. Judges will be visiting on Sunday, December 11.

Hawthorn Community Centre is presenting Little Red Riding Hood and other stories on Wednesday, December 21, from 7pm to 8.45pm, with thanks to Durham County councillor Angela Surtees. Tickets are £10 adults, children free, contact Sharron on 07734 208288 for details.

Easington Co-op British Red Cross raffle will be drawn on Monday, December 5, and tickets are £1 a strip. Prizes are vouchers for Silver Star Images Photography worth more than £150, Cake Lady £10, Jupiter Health Club induction and three sessions, Print 53 T-shirt, KoKo hair design £15, Healthworks five gym sessions and a Co-op Christmas hamper worth £40. Money raised will go to the Red Cross to tackle loneliness across the UK.
