Durham Cricket League: Shellie gives it some welly to inspire Peterlee rout

The Aussie smashed 16 fours and nine sixes – 128 in boundaries – in an innings of 144 not out. The next top score in the innings was extras, but Shellie had done enough to enable his side to overtake Evenwood’s first dig of 228-8, the run chase taking just 38 overs.

Luke Bannister hit 84 for Evenwood, with Michael Thorpe taking 3-73 to back up two wickets apiece from Lewis Broom and Shellie.

Boldon CA wins have been rare occurrences over the last couple of years, but there was a sighting at Silksworth where the home team could only respond to CA’s score of 154 with 127 runs of their own.

Adam Slater (41) and Dominic Slater (39no) helped CA recover from 11-3 to make 154 all out, with Michael Waterson and Robbie Jones both striking three times.

Stuart Johnson (4-33) and Dominic Slater (3-21) were Boldon’s match-winning heroes as the hosts subsided from 81-2, losing their last eight wickets for just 46 runs. Jones made 44, backed by Gary McAvoy (23) and Glen Davison (20).

Littletown defeated Murton by eight wickets, half centuries from Mattie Dench (51) and Dan Pearson (59no) bringing a target of 154 well within reach. Shashikant Kadam made 34 not out.

Ninth man Dean Brewster (46no) rallied Murton, with Alan Welburn (35) and Ben Wicling (28) also making an impression, as Kadam took 4-23 in nine overs, supported by two wickets apiece from Pearson and Bryan Conlon.

Ryhope had 10 wickets to spare in winning at Houghton after 16.4 overs, their bruising success secured by 11 fours and seven sixes from the bat of Adrian Hedley, who finished on 106 not out from just 56 balls faced. Connor Pearson was 19 not out at the other end.

First up, Justin Langen hit eight fours and a six in a brilliant 65 for Houghton, with Mackenzie Wright (25) helping them reach 138 all out. Jack Tomlin grabbed 4-13 and Dave Gilbert took 3-20.

Pakistan U19 international Abdul Ameer was virtually unplayable (6-22 in 10.2 overs) as Whiteleas beat Marsden by 70 runs despite posting 157, Ray McRae hitting 41. Conor Elliott fired 28 for Marsden.
