Durham Cricket League: De Nobrega and Sanderson on song as Murton slay Silksworth

Ricardo De Nobrega launched 19 boundaries in an impressive 128-ball 106 to lead Murton to 228-3 declared in 44 overs, with Sam Sanderson falling just short of a century, bowled by Gary McAvoy for 99, with 12 fours. Kieran Laws took 2-45.

Silksworth, in reply, were skittled for 75 as Phumzile Yiba produced a barnstorming 11-over stint of 5-11, while Sanderson plundered 4-26. Andy Barrass (18) and Robbie Jones (17) top-scored.

Houghton went down by five wickets to Langley Park after being bowled out for 126.

Gandhar Bhatawadekar top-scored with 46 for the Leyburn Grove side as Connor Surtees (5-19) and Craig Robertson (3-19) held sway. Robin Hiles blasted an unbeaten 59 to steer Langley Park home on 127-5.

Ryhope bowled out Evenwood for 116 to give themselves a good chance of victory, but they fell well short, ending up on 87 in reply.

Sagar Udeshi’s 4-19 in 12 overs, backed by two wickets apiece from Errington and Dick, helped Ryhope dismiss the home side in 41.4 overs.

But they were all out themselves in 29.5 overs, with John Minnis (19) and Adrian Hedley (14) the top runmakers. Billy Teesdale (4-35), Daniel Wilkinson (3-17) and Khan (3-33) shone with the ball to steer Evenwood home by 29 runs.

Marsden were the main movers on the day and are certainly not out of the promotion race.

With teams all around them either drawing or losing, their win at home to Peterlee has immersed them right into the thick of it.

The defeats for Ryhope and Peterlee have let Whiteleas join the promotion push, moving up to second place, just nine points behind Littletown.

They had two century makers in their win, with Ray McRae (106no) and Owen Peterson (100, with 14 fours and a six), helping post 229-2 against Boldon CA.

Abdul Ameer then took 5-35 to bowl out the visitors for just 69, with Rajan Kumarasamy making 35.

Leaders Littletown had to settle for a draw at home to battling Ushaw Moor and saw their lead slashed to nine points.

Patrick Stephenson (57), Peter Maddison (53) and Lee Hayton (39no) steered Ushaw Moor to a declaration on 218-8 after 45 overs, with Joe Dodd taking 3-23 and Shashikant Kadam 3-41.

Littletown struggled to get their reply going, but skipper Gregg Arundel led by example to steady the ship with a welcome 44 and they held on for the draw with 123-7 from 50 overs.
