Don't take away lifeline

I am writing in regard to an article in the Echo that bus passes are to be stopped for the elderly and people with learning disabilities.

It is no surprise that the present Government takes away a lifeline which all these people rely on to go out in the community and do things to make their life better.

Many people with learning disabilities need this to go to supported work placements, to do food shopping and social activities. To take this lifeline away would make many of them depressed.

Why doesn’t the Government make a small charge each journey which would help provide some income to keep funding the passes and to keep a lifeline open for people with learning disabilities and the elderly?
