Dog reunited with owner after being rescued by coastguard in Sunderland
Molly the Spaniel has been reunited with her owner after being rescued at Hendon Beach in Sunderland.
Sunderland and Seaham Coastguard rescue teams were called out at around 12.32pm on Saturday, January 4, to reports of a dog over the sea wall on Hendon Promenade.
The teams located the Spaniel, whose owner had managed to use a rope to secure her.
Using rope rescue equipment a member of the rescue team was then able to reach Molly and successfully extract her from the rocks.
The pup, who was unharmed, has now been safely reunited with her owner.
The Sunderland Coastguard said: “Arriving on scene we were able to locate the dog in the rock armour who had been secured by her owner using a rope. We assembled our rope rescue equipment and lowered one technician down to the rock armour who was able to successfully extract Molly the Spaniel, unharmed and reunite her with her owner.”
